Tony Tofilau
In 1981 I started working at Manukau IRD as an Examining Clerk. I worked at IRD at various locations for 15 years with my career culminating in a Team Leader position on the Investigations Unit at Manukau. Life at IRD also allowed me to be study part time eventually gaining my tertiary qualification in Business Studies and subsequent admission to the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants. As an aside, this was also where I met my wife to be, Suzanne.
In 1996, with encouragement from Suzanne, I left the IRD and started my own taxation business. The skill set obtained in my previous roles at IRD left me in good stead to take on the new challenges presented from my new business. This included providing mainstream accounting and taxation services to the self-employed, rental property owners, and small to medium sized entities.
When Suzanne joined the business full time, we morphed into a more complete and personal service which I am happy to say, our clients still enjoy today.
Suzanne Tofilau
After over a decade in sales, I finished employment in a sector of the advertising industry, as we had our first child due. It made perfect sense that I would join Tony in our tax agency in a part time capacity as we raised our children. I have been working in Toff & Co since 1999 as the business administration/bookkeeping expert. Life skills saw this role develop naturally and eventually included the preparation and filing of GST Returns. I really enjoy engaging with our clients in a relaxed yet efficient manner to ensure they are on track with all of their filing obligations and where they use Xero manage all of the bank reconciling, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and assist with budgeting and tax saving planning. This enables them to concentrate on all other aspects of their business fully knowing and trusting that their business administration is in my capable hands. I am a certified Xero advisor.
